Finally got to attend the annual 'Desecrate the Christmas Tree' party held by around-the-Benz Bob and the over-the-Edge Lara. We had a great time. I've been trying to go to their party since we all worked together in Albuquerque, N.M. One of their friends, that we met, had been at the first party they had in Birmingham, Alabama. What fun. This shot of a pond lily is so cool. I mean. It's just a flower for pete's sake. Since when did I get into flowers. But these pond lilies just stole my heart.
Gosh, it seems like it was just yesterday when Nicole was so new in the world and I was telling her she was 'perfect' and getting her to repeat the phrase 'I'm perfect.' I just wanted her to have high self-esteem. OK. Very high.
Twana also lost Cocoa this year. This must be a bad year for our pets. Like us, they are all getting older. Cocoa was the son of Twana's dog Sadie, so Twana raised him from a pup. Sadie, Cocoa's Mom, is still doing OK for now.
It's Saturday and I think I'll clean up the last of the leaves in the yard. It's a beautiful day today. Especially for November, just a couple days after Thanksgiving.
I talked to Cindy. She had to put Abby down yesterday, but at least her girls were there with her. They all got to say goodbye to her. Abby was very ill at the end, but lived a long and happy life for a dog. She was over 100 in dog years. She was well cared for and had lots of people who loved her. I know Mom hated to see Abby so sick. But Cindy made sure her daughters got to see her one last time.

As the cold creeps across the country, it's sweet to think about a hot summer day in Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta. This is what I often see if I get time to walk over there at lunch. The park is across the street from the CNN Center.
Lana says the other photo doesn't show Maya's pretty face, so I had to upload another. Here it is. Maya, like many calicos, is a very stubborn girl. She is well-behaved, on her terms and in her own time. When I call her she comes, eventually, in a way that makes it clear that it was her own idea.
Maya (bottom) follows me around. She thinks she owns me. Perhaps she does. She is also very nosy, which is why her Indian name is Miss Marple. Maggie (top) rarely sits this still. The vet's assistant calls her the devil cat.
